5 Bathroom Trends

Every budding fashionista wants to keep up to date with current trends in bathroom beauty. You need to keep abreast of what’s to-die-for in basin design and what’s cutting it in showers these days.

Because if your bathroom is wearing a metaphorical tank top and flared trousers you will be straight out of the in-crowd, darling. You have to keep up with the latest fashions or you will be jealously looking in at all the cool people from squaresville.

Bathroom design is forever evolving and you want to keep your finger on the pulse.

Wallpaper is in

If your bathroom is well ventilated a good quality design pattern wallpaper will go down a storm in your bathroom. Use a bit of style and imagination when you choose the style of paper to give your bathroom a groovy feel.

You can protect your wallpaper by varnishing it and there are laminate glass splashback panels you can buy to help you keep it dry.

Black is the new black

We all know about the little black dress. Well now you can have the little black bathroom. You can have a black basin, but make sure the walls are tiled in shades of grey.

The toilet should be white as you need something to lighten the room up but you can’t get cooler than a black bathroom.

Reflecting bathrooms

Walk through any city and you will notice that all new buildings are built of glass. Light is key to modern architecture and it is also important for the up-to-date bathroom.

You can have a bathroom where the bathroom mirror is not the only mirror in the room. Bath panels can be mirrored, as can tiles and you may even want to put one on the ceiling. All that light bouncing round the room will help a small bathroom look bigger as well as more fashionable.

Wood comes back in fashion

Wood was seen to be unfashionable a few years ago. Now it is back and the preferred choice of the trend setters for their vanity units and bathroom cabinets.

The wood is not painted but it is left to appear raw and natural. It fits in with the green, environmentally friendly aesthetic favoured by Hollywood royalty.

Back to the future

The success of period dramas like Downton Abbey has made the Victorian/Edwardian style bathroom the must have bathroom this year. Roll top baths, bare floorboards and period style bath taps are now de rigueur amongst those in vogue.
