Spring is here and it is at this time of year that we often get the urge to revitalise our homes. As the sun starts to shine and the season of re-birth starts to kick in we suddenly start to move things around so the old place feels like new.
The bathroom is one of those rooms that can get forgotten during this process of renewal. It is a functional room; you wash, clean and do all sort of necessary functions in there. It never occurs to you that like the other rooms in the house it could do with a fresh lick of paint.
Simple bathroom updates
There are ways of improving the look of your bathroom that won’t cost a fortune. Replacing the grouting in the tiles and resealing the bath will make it look smarter.
Also give the bath or shower enclosure a good clean and wash bath mats and shower curtains. Give the bath taps a good polish and the room will already start to look fresher.
Get rid of clutter such as old shower gels and shampoos. It is amazing how often people keep nearly empty bottles of soaps and lotions which fill the vanity units and bathroom shelves making the whole room look untidy.
The more space you can clear the better your bathroom will look. These are very simple ways of freshening things up but they are very useful.
Update the bathroom with colour
You can, or course, freshen up your bathroom in a more permanent fashion. That is by repainting the walls or changing the wallpaper.
By all means flick though the home style magazines for inspiration but remember this bathroom is for you and your family and you do not have to be a slave to fashion. You have your own mind!
Be bold in your choices. Light colours are popular in bathrooms but there is no reason why you should not decide to go for a dark green or bright red.
The bathroom is seen as a tranquil room where you relax and soak away the pressures of the day. It is also a place where you try and wake yourself up in the morning and a few thrilling colours in there will bring you and it to life.
To get the best of both worlds paint the radiators in a vibrant colour and leave the rest of the room in pastel shades.
New bathroom mirror
Just by adding a picture or a new bathroom mirror you can change the way your bathroom looks. Get a rug, a new set of towels or get some wall stickers.
There are waterproof wall stickers you can get in all sorts of wonderful designs that you could stick on those boring tiles or on the wall near the mirror.
They are a cheap way of making your bathroom look funky and groovy. Suddenly it will become a fresh and exciting place to be.
When you go in you may not want to come out.
