Bathroom Storage Solutions

In a world of chaos we need organisation. I don’t know if your bathroom is like mine but sometimes it looks like the proverbial bomb has hit it.

Thankfully the destruction can be organised and order can again rule because there are places to hide away that mess.

As the saying goes, “a place for everything and everything in its place.” This does not mean you have to be obsessively neat. You don’t need to be a domestic goddess (or god) to want to make sure your bathroom is tidy.

In a room full of hard static objects (e.g. bath, basin and toilet) the last thing you need in it is clutter. Without wanting to sound like a health and safety officer with a nerdy voice if you trip on something in the bathroom you could seriously hurt yourself (imagine cracking your head on the bath…).

Vanity Units

Now we have established the obvious reasons for bathroom storage we can now take a look at some of the options.

Vanity units can come in all shapes and colours as you would expect. If space is at a premium then this is the best form of storage solution.

They are useful not just because they combine basin and cupboard in one go but because everything you need to wash and clean is also near at hand. Perfect.

Bathroom Furniture

However, if you have a bit more space to play with and perhaps a desire to make a statement then there are other types of bathroom furniture you can choose to store those towels and toothbrushes.

If you have the cash and the inclination a trip to the local antique store will uncover cupboards and closets galore.

I remember visiting a bathroom with a wonderful eighteenth century tallboy in the corner. It was a bit battered but as an elegant storage solution with all those drawers it displayed utility and charm simultaneously.

Shelves

For ease of access to your soaps and solutions then shelves are the answer. The fact that you can just grab what you need off the shelf makes life easier.

A set of shelves can look really smart and they are not necessarily expensive.

I prefer wood shelving but glass can look really good and chrome shelves can help if you are going for a futuristic look.

Bathroom Cabinets

Finally, the good old bathroom cabinet is a good place to hideaway stuff. These can also serve a double purpose as they are often mirrored to you can have storage solution and bathroom mirror in one package.

Some of them come with lights around the side so that as you make yourself feel human in the morning you can feel like a movie star.

A real hero with a clear bathroom.
