Where bathrooms are concerned some houses are better endowed than others. If you are reading this and your bathroom is small then I apologise. Size, as we all know, is not important but sometimes big is better. The larger bathroom gives you a chance to go over the top in terms of design. You can mix patterns and clash colours because the space you have will allow you to do this in a way that it would not in a small bathroom.
Gold bathroom accessories
Now some of these ideas are predicated on the idea that money is no object. I do understand that we are currently living through a recession but these are just suggestions. In the way that Top Gear always tests really expensive cars I am going to suggest some costly ideas.
I once watched MTV’s Cribs and some rap star I had never heard of and can’t remember had a large golden bathroom. It looked hideous but gold, if used correctly can help a large bathroom gain an identity.
All you need are some gold bath taps, maybe paint the radiators a golden colour or just have golden lines between the tiles. This will add sparkle to a large room which because of its size can easily become bland.
Another idea would be to get a chandelier to create that luxurious feeling to your bathroom. It adds that touch of class to the room and helps to light up your bath and basin in a spectacular fashion.
Create a clutter free space
It can be true as Aristotle said that, “nature abhors a vacuum” and the temptation is to fill the space in your large bathroom with as many things as possible because you can.
But remember that we know that a vacuum can be created and there is nothing wrong with empty space. Like white space in a magazine advert it can actually draw your eye to the important things.
So as for extra bathroom furniture and accessories just put a nice rug on the floor, add a plant or some nice bright flowers, a small cabinet and a mirror and leave it at that.
So like with any size bathroom the bath should be the centrepiece. You could go for a designer bath or a roll top bath but it should be one with a bit of style.
Place it in the centre if you can as you do not want to lose it in a large room. If the room is a large rectangle then place it against the far wall so it is the first thing you can see when you come in.
With the extra space you can fit two basins in the room. They could be his and hers as it were and they could go down the right hand wall.
Choose bold designs for the walls and tiles or just paint in a bold colour like deep purple or even red.
Whatever you choose to do make sure your large bathroom is a place of pleasure and relaxation.
